The Anothony- Strange Tips for Teachers Part 1

Don't Teach Tech - Use It

Additional Thoughts Abouts Lessons

This was a lot of information, but I learned so much from the conversations between Dr. Strange and Anthony Capps. It was very nice to know how much knowledge Mr. Capp's 3rd grader's had. Their schooling has changed so much since I was in school. We did not use computers and other things. Teaching styles are very different from when i was in school. I wish I could have had some of those resources when I was in school. I never had technology in my classrooms, because that was not offered at the time. It is a great thing to be in schools today.

These videos made me learn that everyone is a learner, and also everyone is a teacher. This is right, I know I could learn a lot from Mr. Capps' 3rd graders. They would probaly teach me more then i already know at this point. Because, I don't know everything. I do think that a teacher needs to know how do certain things, like using GoogleDocs, making an iMovie, or how to upload videos to Youtube. I would try my best to guide my students if they were really stuck. I would question them to lead them to figure out how to solve their on problems. If they cannot figure it out after trying, I will Take extra time and give them more understanding. I want to make my class fun, but also push my students to do the best they can do.

CFK Summary for September

In Ashlee's blogAshlee and Lizara's Netball project they were talking about netball the sport. It was invented in 1895 and is like basketball. She listed where the first game was played. How the game was created and where it was created. But, she left me wondering how the game was actully played. Although, she said stay tuned to get a video later.

In Ashlee's blog Lifeguards Perspective it was about a boy going on his last swim of that day. It did't tell me that the life guard went to save the boy. It kind of told me how the boy went in the water and got hit so hard that he ended up on the sand.

Both were very interesting and I really enjoyed reading them.

What are PLNs you ask? Until now I never heard of them. But, they are very intersting ways to learn and help teachers and students. PLNs are personal learning networks that you create and use as a teacher or a student. After watching the video Michael Fawcett Discusses his PLN it really made me know how much this could help me. Its a network that can help me learn different ways to teach, while I'm also helping others with my teaching styles.

When I read Eva Buyuksimkesyan's My Wonderful PLN, it is important for teachers to have a PLNs. When you are a teacher it's always good to have other teacher's to communicate with. You will always want someone who you can relate to in your corner at some point in your teaching career. Personal learning networks can help a teacher to broaden their veiws on different subjects.

This has been very informative for me and I will use this information to make me a better teacher. I am starting my PLN and I hope to be as much of a help as some of these teacher's have been to me oneday.

Project #4 C4T Summary

In Mr Miguel Guhlin post Learning Together was very intersting. It really made me feel like work needs to been done with other's thoughts and opinions. I believe you can only do a certain amount of work on your own. If you are doing work for others to use, it needs to be done with more opinions and options. It really takes a community to make the world a better place.

Another post I read by Mr Guhlin was Stump the Tech Director. This was a very funny post about how the tech director only wants security instead of user friendly networks. It shows how some people have tunnel vision and only sees what they want to see. We as teacher will have to work together to make teaching easier. We also have to come up with ways and make sure other people can use those things.

Project#15

1.Bing is useful for looking up or searching things. It brings up different websites to your search. It also suggest things to you to search. This search engine is very nice. But I'm use to goggle doing everything.

2.Webopedia is used to search the meaning of term. You put in your term, then it brings up how it is related to technology. It's great for people who don't know all of the computer terms. I would use this browser if I needed to know something about technology.

3. Gigablast This search engine tells you exactly why the search results are ranked the way they are so you can add more specific details if needed.

4. Ask. I have used Ask.com many times in the past. It is useful because you can pose a question and anyone can answer it. This means if you cannot find an answer to a question anywhere online, you can ask it here.

5.Yandex This search engine you can search any website from around the world. This would be better if you were searching about another country, like news stories in that country.

6. Clusty searches other search engines for you. When you search one thing it brings up information that is clustered into groups. You can pick which group you want. This is great because you can go right to what you are looking for without scrolling. I would recommend this search engine to everyone.

7.Wolframalpha This search engine was very useful. It uses human knowledge to solve equations. It would be best to use it to ask logical questions and anything to do with numbers and percentages.

8.Dogpile is almost like Google. You can use this search engine to search anything. It's set up so you can search the web, images, news,or videos.

What do we need to know about asking questions to be an effective teacher?

I feel that we, as teachers need to be able to ask better questions. From reading Three ways to ask better questions I learned that you should have prepared questions. You as a teacher should be prepared before class. Also, you should have questions to ask before and after class to make your kids engage in the learning while also seeing if that are getting the lesson plan you are teaching. There also is a preserved question, which is a question asked by a student that is a really good question. It can be brought up in other classes and help other students. That's a question worth keeping in your lesson plan.

I always thought when I asked a child a questions I wanted the best answer I could get. After watching Asking better question in the classroom I feel that there are better ways to ask the question so you can get a better response from your students. You can word the question so that you can get a thought about answer or a yes or no answer.

In doing this I realize that they are a lot of different ways to be an effective teacher. One there will always be ways to teach you to become a better teacher. You will have to take the time a learn the best way to be an effective teacher.

Blog Post 3

In the video What Is Peer Editing and the Peer Edit with Perfection Tutorial I learned a lot about helping comment on blog post. I never knew that it could be so many different ways to help someone with out telling just what they did wrong. I was surprised to hear that you should always compliment their work before you make ant suggestion. After that you can start the corrections if they are any to do. I learned some useful information from the video and the tutorial that will be able to help me be a better teacher.

In the video Writing Peer Review Top 10 Mistakes it was very funny. It was also very educational for me to see how other peers would react to corrections of their paper. I know they are kids in the video ,but some adults feel the same way. I'm glad I watched these videos and they will help me more in the long run as well as in this class.
